Hi again,
If you work in Hollywood - or near anyone who works in Hollywood - you’ve absolutely been hearing the phrase “grounded sci-fi” on the daily. Its use was in full swing when I started working out here - I assume at least since ARRIVAL debuted, since that still seems to be the gold standard for approachable science fiction with a hand in other genres. Or maybe since STRANGER THINGS, a cash cow that left every producer and studio not involved seething with envy.
My point is, it’s been around for at least 10 years now and that’s given this once straightforward genre time to subdivide and diversify. I’m curious what “grounded sci-fi” means to you, as a Hollywood denizen or just a reader/viewer.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
Best,
TIP
See you next time!
