The Busy Exec’s Guide to the Short Story Market, Part 2: Literary Magazines
Where to find what, normie edition
Hi again!
This is part two of our series cataloguing short story magazines (part one here, where we cover sci-fi, fantasy, and genre publications). This time we’re focusing on literary magazines, where you’ll find down-to-earth, character first stories written by the stars and soon-to-be stars of the publishing world.
There are SO many magazines out there to read - I’ve selected everything here based on 1) How discerning the editors are, 2) if it’s had material optioned before, or 3) if it’s good at identifying promising new talent. (And if it’s easily accessible to all of us desk jockeys - if we have to pay $40 for a hard copy that comes in 4-6 weeks, I’m sorry to all hard core authors but that’s a no-go!)
Next time I’ll be getting into nonfiction magazines - this list just keeps getting longer and longer!
As always, I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Best,
TIP
