Hello again!

Ah Romantasy. It’s not exactly controversial - at this point everyone can agree that the massive audience this genre commands is impossible to ignore. But why hasn’t Hollywood followed Publishing’s example in investing properly in this extremely lucrative facet of entertainment?

You already know the answer - dragons are expensive! And especially given how tumultuous the past few years have been for the entertainment industry, buyers want to be sure they can get a return on their investments. For a long time, producers were waiting to see what would become of big titles like A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES and FOURTH WING - but now that those project are either stuck in development hell or stuck on animating all those dragons, what are our next steps?

Worry not! We have a selection of Romantasy books that are available for screen, and do NOT involve animating 30 dragons at once. We think this list will help make it easier to get this fan favorite genre onto production slates across town. Make sure yours is filled first!

Here are the titles we’re most excited about:

  • A beloved YA fantasy author returns with a book that combines the world of BRIDGERTON with classic spy thrillers

  • A fantasy action thriller being compared to SNOWPIERCER and MAD MAX

  • Two books that approach romantasy worlds in a very straightforward, down-to-earth way (with THE BACHELORETTE and HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER as specific comps)

As always, we look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Best,

TIP
