Hello again!
So far we’ve been putting together lists of books and IP that ARE worth pursuing - but there’s also plenty out there that aren’t worth it at all. From difficult estates, to reclusive writers, to material that’s just unadaptable, there’s a minefield of headaches out there. Why not be a good citizen and give everyone a heads up? 😇
Here’s an example we already have:
I was an agency assistant and there was a fairly high level producer who was certain that THEY were the person to adapt CALVIN & HOBBES. Two different agents tried to explain to them that Bill Watterson is famous for refusing to sell the rights, but the producer wasn’t hearing it. I had to email Watterson’s agent every six months for two years because this producer was so sure they could crack him. That publishing agent never let us live it down.
